About the Director
My name is Sara Moore, Riverside High School Orchestra Director. I earned my Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Piano Performance from Appalachian State University, and my Master of Music degree in Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Although a piano major, I studied violin from middle school through college and knew that I wanted to be an orchestra teacher!
I've taught in Durham Public Schools since 2000 and began the orchestra program at Riverside in 2007, where it has grown from one class to three! I'm an active member of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA), as well as the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). Occasionally, I coach sectionals and teach at the summer music camp at the Duke University String School.
Outside of teaching, I love to spend my time outdoors running, hiking and gardening, as well as inside reading or watching movies, and playing and writing music with my band Malt Swagger. I live in Hillsborough with my husband, three kitties and dog.
I am so excited to teach music to my students everyday. I have the best job in the world! STRING POWER!
